Laser vaginal rejuvenation
When rejuvenating the vagina, we use a special vaginal laser to produce a thermal effect on collagen, which is beneath the vaginal mucosa. We thus stimulate the remodeling and formation of new collagen fibers in the vaginal wall. Most patients use this effect after vaginal childbirth, menopause, sexual dysfunction, or light urinary incontinence.
During the procedure, the patient is in the classic gynecological position, on the gynecological chair. The duration of the procedure is between 20-30 minutes. The vaginal laser acts thermally on the vaginal mucosa and is painless. The correct indication of this performance is important. The vaginal laser is intended for women suffering from mild urinary incontinence, the syndrome of loosened vaginal walls after childbirth or menopause. The anatomical conditions in the vagina are changed during urinary incontinence and postpartum, the internal diameter is increased, and this reduces the pelvic floor function including sexual satisfaction of the patient. With repeated vaginal delivery, the risk of pelvic floor muscle damage is increased as well. Another cause of pelvic floor descent and vaginal wall weakness is the natural aging process, estrogen deficiency and congenital collagen insufficiency.
In high-grade urinary incontinence (grade II-III), the patient should be indicated for surgery such as Bulkamid (Hyaluronic Acid Injection) or tension-free vaginal tape (TVT, TOT). Other possibilities for strengthening the pelvic floor are: vaginoplasty and vaginal surgery with an implant (mesh).
After laser procedure, some describe mild staining or burning in the vagina. A week without sexual intercourse is recommended. The abovementioned vaginal procedures should only be performed by a physician with urogynecology certification.
Overall, vaginal rejuvenation is repeated three times in monthly intervals. The first positive effect is observed by the patient after the second application.
